Three steps
How to use Split PDF
- Step 01
Pick your input
Drag a single application/pdf into the upload area, or click to browse.
- Step 02
Configure & run
Adjust the options (mode, ranges, every, merge) and click Run. We try the in-browser path first, falling back to our servers for large files.
- Step 03
Download the result
Each output file is listed below — download individually or as a ZIP.
When run in the browser, your file never leaves your device. When the server path is used, files are encrypted at rest and deleted an hour after upload — 24 hours if you are signed in.
About split pdf
Split a PDF into separate files by page range, every N pages, or extract specific pages. It sits in the pdf & office shelf alongside 83 other pdf & office tools, needs no account, and keeps the same behaviour whether you open it here or call it through the REST API.
It takes a file in PDF and gives back several files. Large files stay on your machine, so size is bounded by your own memory rather than an upload limit. The work happens in your browser, so the file is never uploaded and the tool keeps working offline. The same operation is available programmatically at POST /v1/pdf/split.
Split PDF questions
Does Split PDF upload my file?
No. Split PDF runs as WebAssembly inside this browser tab: the file is read from your disk by the page, processed on your own machine, and handed straight back. It is never sent anywhere, so there is nothing for us to store or delete.
Can I run Split PDF on several files at once?
Yes. Split PDF takes one file at a time, so selecting several runs it once per file, one after another, and you get a result for each.
Do I need an account to use Split PDF?
No. Split PDF works without signing in, and that is not a trial — it is how the free tier works. An account only matters for things that need one to exist at all: larger server jobs against your quota, API keys, saved workflows and billing.
Can I run Split PDF from my own code?
Yes. Every tool on the site is reachable from the REST API with the same slug — `pdf-split` — and the same options as this page, so anything you can do here you can automate against your own files.
